That cute picture up there is from the rescue group I volunteer at/foster for: Macon Purrs N Paws.
They’re the only cat focused rescue group in Macon, GA- and most of the entire Middle Georgia Area. Sure there’s rescues that do both cats and dogs but most rescues are dog focused and Purrs N Paws is the only cat focused one around.
That said, however, they’ve recently come into some trouble- that trouble being that the property manager of where they’re located at is kicking them out. They want to turn the shopping area the rescue has been located in for the past three years into an ‘upscale retail’ center and have given Purrs N Paws until October to get out.
That means the shelter is either going to have to adopt all the cats out and become foster home based only, have the cats taken by animal control because they have no place, or purchase a new commercial building for the cats.
We want to do the latter. Unfortunately though their funds are tight- they already have to pay vet bills monthly and are still paying rent and utilities until October. They don’t have the money to purchase a building to own- and most buildings won’t rent out to shelters.
They are, however, looking into purchasing a new building but it’s 64,900 dollars- and that’s with the price reduced. Commercial buildings in Macon aren’t cheap- and it’s gonna take a lot of fundraising for them to be able to get that money.
That’s where you guys, hopefully, come in. Purrs N Paws does have a gofundme page- plus a paypal! (maconpurrs@gmail.com)
The building they’re looking into purchasing is 2,564 square feet and the listing says each square foot would cost about 26 dollars each. If you guys could help by donating enough money to purchase one square foot, or even half of a square foot, and then send this around so other people can help I think they’d have the money in no time!
Please help out a great rescue, guys. ): They’re so great and these cats deserve a good life and a chance at being adopted. They’re all owner surrenders- or dumped- or rescued from High Kill shelters in the area where they would have been put down. Purrs N Paws does so much for these cats- they deserve a new building where they won’t have property managers pushing the rent costs up whenever they please.
